Football-Plaisance disband |19 February 2009

According to SFF acting secretary general Jemmy Adela, Plaisance have written to the local football body saying they will not field a team this season.

Plaisance played in the Barclays League Division One in 2008 and were relegated to the second tier after finishing at the foot of the table.

There were talks at the start of the year that Plaisance would merge with Super Magic Brothers, formerly known as SMB, but nothing materialised.

Mr Adela said the SFF will now have to work on the second division fixtures all over again.

The President’s Cup on Saturday February 28 will officially launch the 2009 season. The match pits the defending Barclays League Division One champions against the reigning Land Marine Cup winners, but because St Michel made a clean sweep of all the titles last year they will play Cup runners-up St Louis Suns at Stad Linite.
