New smart and secure courier company zooms into town

A2B is a corporate courier and concierge business set up during late 2008 by an enterprising and young all-Seychellois team of 20-somethings passionate about finding a better way to tackle everyday tasks.

Key to their vision is security, cutting down costs, saving time, and efficiency. They also pride themselves on being a socially and environmentally responsible company.

Proving to be the most popular services so far are ad hoc and urgent courier trips, monthly packages starting from as low as R1,200 per month for unlimited dispatches, and corporate concierge services such as bill payments and bank deposits.

Security is absolutely paramount to A2B; to this extent they use international standards and equipment for sensitive and confidential deliveries.

“We use special tamper-proof security bags and unique serialised seals, which are in use worldwide for banks for instance. Indeed we count among our satisfied clients a prestigious Seychelles bank, as well as law and financial services businesses,” said a spokesman for the company.

A2B is co-managed by Micheline Roberts Khan, 29, (BSc (Hons), MSc) who has had extensive experience working in the UK in the management, marketing and consultancy industries. Among other posts, she was chief executive of a UK social and cultural thinktank, and of a marketing consultancy, as well as working at management level in the UK marketing consultancy industry before that.

While studying at university, she worked part time in marketing roles in customer-centric industries such as hospitality, consumer brands and retail. In addition to her two degrees, she is now studying for her MA in strategic management through the Seychelles Young Leaders programme. She feels it is this wide experience that gave her the focus to set up A2B with her husband.

A2B’s co-founder and director Samir Khan, 28, spent seven years in the offshore financial services industry and is also a widely respected computer expert. It was his experience at management level that made him realise the inefficiency of staff having to leave the office to collect documents, buy stationery and perform other routine administration tasks. He looked around for a company to outsource this to, but found nobody doing it in Seychelles.

Together with Micheline, he came up with A2B, the perfect solution to running a business or organisation efficiently and cost-effectively.

Mr Khan said: “We feel that it is time to announce our services on a larger scale due to the popular demand and huge interest that we have been generating since our launch last year.

“Our customers appreciate the fact that we are young, fast and offer outstanding customer service at all times. We find that it is also proving extremely popular given the economic climate, where organisations are being compelled to use their resources more efficiently and lower their overheads.

“Let’s not also forget that in using our services, businesses can significantly reduce their carbon footprint because they will inevitably cut down on unnecessary trips and related pollution.

“Up till now we were only servicing the private sector, however we are now inviting government departments to try our services out. We are a young and determined team who will work together with you to streamline your operations and costs, and work faster, smarter and responsibly.”

Mrs Khan added: “We are responding to the President’s call for young entrepreneurs to help develop the economy and we want to offer the government new and better solutions in moving forward and shaping a new Seychelles.

“I was very lucky to have benefited from the Young Leaders programme and a lot of what I learned on the strategic management masters has gone into the strategy of A2B.”

A2B is also on the lookout for young, positive-minded and enthusiastic recruits and is calling for interested jobseekers to send their CVs to info@a2-b.net.

Interested organisations are warmly invited to visit A2B’s revamped website on www.a2-b.net or to give them a call on 32 33 77.
