President Barrack Obama awarded 2009 Nobel Peace Prize-President Michel sends message of congratulations |12 October 2009
President Michel’s message reads:
“It gives me immense pleasure, on behalf of the government and people of Seychelles, to congratulate you upon your award of the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize.
“Your vision for a peaceful world touched the hearts of men, women and children all over the world, including Seychelles, even before you were elected to the office of the president of the United States.
“During the short time that you have held office, you have shown that you aim to give life to your vision. This has been examplified through your policies on a wide range of issues, from economics to terrorism and the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.
“I hope that this award gives you the encouragement to continue on the path that you have set yourself and the United States of America on, and that your actions continue to be an inspiration to the whole world.
“Please accept, Your Excellency, the assurances of my highest consideration and our best wishes for your continued good health and for the well-being of the people of the United States of America.
