Two Seychellois win first Appleby scholarship

Kelly Louise and Martine Gontier-Capaul received their tickets recently from the offshore law firm’s office manager Monica Charles at Caravelle House.

The two A-level graduates have already left for Mauritius to pursue their Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degrees at the Centre for Legal and Business Studies.

This three-year course is offered under the University of London’s external degree programme.
Both students said they have always been interested in law and are looking forward to studying in Mauritius as it is not far away from home.

Mrs Charles said the scholarship is being awarded as part of Appleby’s corporate social responsibilities after assessing the growing need for legal professional services in the financial services industry here.

She said the scholarship will be awarded to two Seychellois students every year, and they can work for any institution or sector of their choice on their return.

The scholarship programme emphasises the global commitment of the Appleby Group to higher education and training, she added.
