Pirates seize cargo ship |12 November 2009
The Filitsa, registered in the Marshall Islands, was attacked by pirates in the early hours of yesterday and its movements towards the coast of Somalia are now being monitored.
The coast guard’s Joint Rescue Coordination Centre said the ship has a crew of 19 Filipinos and three Greeks. Maritime authorities received a distress alert from the vessel and then all contact was lost.
The attack took place 265 nautical miles outside Seychelles’ exclusive economic zone.
