President Michel’s visit to the social welfare agency and social security division |09 January 2010

He was accompanied by the Minister for Health and Social Development Marie-Pierre Lloyd and the chief executive officer of the Social Welfare Agency Jacqueline Pierre.

The visit was organised in the wake of concerns raised by residents of several districts in the ‘Koste Seselwa’ consultative meetings held last year, where the President met the people to discuss the progress and implementation of the economic reform programme.

The President also received many letters of complaint from the public concerning the operation of the Social Welfare Agency, and for this reason he visited the organisation to get a better picture of the progress the agency has made to improve its service as well as address the needs of the most vulnerable members of society.
