Bonzour Sesel – an excellent new programme |16 March 2010

I was not at all surprised, though, that Regar criticised the programme last week because Regar finds fault with everything the SBC does. It is one thing to criticise, but morally indefensible to publish lies.

Regar would have us believe that CNN and the BBC have been banned from the SBC airwaves altogether, when in fact from 8am people can watch as much international news, including Russian and Chinese TV, as they like on SBC. We also have TV5Monde on a 24-hour basis, so I don’t understand why they complain.

Most Seychellois are happy to have the choice of local, Kreol programmes, and it is a normal thing to have local news and information on a national broadcaster. Have you heard of any country in the world which has a national TV station that just broadcasts foreign news in the morning?

Why is Regar complaining so much when CNN and the BBC just repeat the news in the morning from the day before? If someone is interested in following international news they can get it on the internet, much fresher and up to date.

It is very strange that Regar, the Seychelles National Party mouthpiece, would prefer international news channels, when they go on and on about being patriots while at the same time mounting a xenophobic anti-foreigner campaign. Hypocrites!
What kind of patriot prefers to watch what is happening in other countries, and wants to ignore the everyday life and times of the Seychelles nation?

Be that as it may, the writer of this article in Regar most certainly has access to Intelvision and can stay glued to life outside Seychelles and dream of life overseas.

SBC, good work! I want to stick to information about my country and my people.
