Red Cross elects new president

The new Red Cross president, Mrs Carolus Andre (middle), and the other elected executive committee members

Mrs Carolus Andre’s election along with the society’s other executive committee members took place on Saturday at the auditorium of UniSey’s School of Education (ex-NIE) during the organisation’s annual general meeting.

The gathering was attended by International Federation of Red Cross delegate for the Mauritius-based sub regional office, Roger Bracke, RCSS members, volunteers and friends.

Ronny Renaud and Luciana Lagrenade were re-elected as vice-presidents while the committee’s ordinary members are Colette Servina, Henry Bastienne, Ian Woodcock and Rosie Bistoquet.

Jerry Henry now heads the society’s National Committee and Finance and Risk Commission. He replaces Dolor Ernesta.

The new president said her priority is to maintain the society’s well defined structures, status and functions and also to promote dignity in all programmes and activities organised.

Another target is to get new volunteers through a sufficient volunteer policy which will be applied and also to carry out all activities in a professional manner.

As for the outgoing president, her greatest achievement during her six-year mandate has been to bring the RCSS a few steps further into meeting the international federation’s criteria of a well functioning national society.
