National library gets donation of books |17 April 2010
The consignment of books weighing 900kg comprises a wide range of reading material which include fiction and non-fiction books for children, reference material, non-fiction books for adults on a number of subjects like house decoration, economics, science and woodworking.
The initiator of the donation is Usamah Khan, a young Seychellois living in the UK, who offered to assist with the supply after a visit to the library last year.
Mr Khan, who received the help of a few other people, namely Wajih Khan, Sabrina Pool and children Hamza, Adam, Aliyah and Mariah Pool, organised the transportation of the books to Mahe as well.
The National Library management has expressed its thanks and appreciation for the donation which will help to provide additional reading material to the users.
According to a press release from the National Library, Mr Khan has promised to send some more books once they are able to raise sufficient funds to cover the transportation cost.
