La Reserve Hotel welcomes iSurf to Praslin

Launch of the iSurf system at La Reserve

In a ceremony on Friday June 4, C&W officially launched the service on Praslin in the presence of Alain St Ange, the Seychelles Tourism Board’s director for marketing, and partners in the hospitality industry at a cocktail party at La Reserve.

In a short speech Charles Hammond, C&W’s chief executive, said: “A large majority of our visitors choose Praslin for their holiday, and it is important for Seychelles to offer reliable and secure internet services to meet trends and demands.

“I take pride in the work that my team at Cable & Wireless have done to bring iSurf to Seychelles.”
He added that C&W Seychelles will continue to support and partner the hospitality industry to ensure holidaymakers in Seychelles are always connected to the rest of the world.

Peter Pomeroy, general manager of La Reserve Hotel, said: “Today we stand tall to be the first hotel on Praslin to offer such a service, and with the continual support of Cable & Wireless I am positive that our guests will not be disappointed with iSurf.”

He added that La Reserve is proud to offer all its guests high-speed internet access, and they have the option of browsing at their leisure as all the hotel premises are covered.

Together with C&W, the engineering team installed a few hotspots around the hotel, connected through a fibre-optic cable, and anyone with the proper wi-fi receiver, a username and a password can get access to a wireless network.

The iSurf service – which basically allows wireless access to the internet by means of any wireless-enabled device such as a laptop, mobile, BlackBerry or PDA – caters for a large number of customers with a focus on the needs of Seychelles’ hospitality industry.

This state-of-the-art wireless system allows hotel guests and casual visitors to access the internet by buying airtime cards, available in one-hour and 24-hour denominations from the resort’s reception.

The cards come with the added benefit of allowing guests to log out whenever they wish and keep their remaining credit to use another time within the validity period.

Mr St Ange congratulated La Reserve Hotel and Cable & Wireless Seychelles for moving Praslin forward and for providing our visitors with the new facilities they now expect when travelling the world.
“La Reserve and its owners, the Pomeroy family, have done us proud,” he said.

“Today they not only have a totally new hotel, but they are not ceasing to provide new facilities to ensure visitors to Seychelles have at their disposal all they want and all they need.”
