Seychelles and Rwanda to set up joint commission

Mrs Ndangiza presents her credentials to President Michel

Fatuma Ndangiza, the first ambassador of Rwanda to Seychelles, said this yesterday after presenting her credentials to President James Michel at State House.

Speaking to the press after the meeting, Mrs Ndangiza said a wide range of issues – including how to strengthen the strong ties between the two countries – were discussed, noting that both are working to promote tourism.

She said with Seychelles doing well in tourism, the two countries can learn from each other and exchange information.

“We have agreed to join our forces in promoting tourism,” she said.

Mrs Ndangiza said exploring ways to link our airlines, business promotion and investment, agriculture and fishing were other areas discussed.

Describing her first meeting with Mr Michel as warm and friendly, she praised Seychelles’ strong achievements as a middle-income country that has met most of the Millennium Development Goal targets and is now working towards MDG Plus.

Rwanda can learn a lot from Seychelles in that respect, she said, adding that our clean and green environment says a great deal about the leadership of the country and the President.

Mrs Ndangiza, who is based in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, will today pay a courtesy call on National Assembly speaker Dr Patrick Herminie, as well as visit other ministers and key personalities.
