Tanzanians join Friends of Seychelles – Press

Dr Komba, Mr St Ange, Ms Rosalie, Mrs Pool and Ms Mhaville

While in Dar es Salaam for the Seychelles Week promotion, Seychelles Tourism Board (STB) chief executive Alain St Ange presented membership certificates to Joyce Mhaville – managing director of Independent Television Ltd, Capital Television, Radio One and Capital Radio – and Joseph Kusaga of Clouds Entertainment.

Also present were Dr Ladislaus Komba, the Permanent Secretary at the Tanzanian Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism; Maryvonne Pool, Seychelles’ consul and tourism ambassador in Tanzania; and Sharon Rosalie, the STB’s marketing executive for East Africa.

"The Friends of Seychelles – Press programme is a special press club for journalists who know Seychelles, who understand Seychelles and who appreciate the unique mid-ocean islands," said Mr St Ange.

He added that this latest innovation is part of the new people-centred Seychelles Brand of tourism launched by President James Michel, who also holds the tourism portfolio.

Mr St Ange said the programme is not for a TV station, a newspaper or a magazine, but is for the people behind the computer or camera who bring out the news.

He confirmed that members will be invited to Seychelles in early March 2011 for their first general meeting in time for them to be present at the opening ceremony of the International Carnival of Victoria.
