President names new PS for transport |20 November 2010

Philip Morin, new PS for transport & energy                  Andrew Jean-Louis, new CEO of the Seychelles Energy Commission

The post of transport principal secretary, which has been vacant since June this year, falls under the Ministry of Home Affairs, Environment and Transport.

Mr Morin has over 25 years’ professional experience in executive positions in the energy sector. He holds a master’s degree in electrical power system technology from University of Bradford, UK.
 
He has also had training in energy management and the management of utility companies, in Seychelles and overseas.

Mr Morin’s most recent position was chief executive of the Seychelles Energy Commission, a post he had held since August 2009. Before that, he had been executive chairman of the Public Utilities Corporation, having pursued a long and distinguished career in electrical engineering in that company.

President James Michel has also appointed Andrew Jean-Louis as the new chief executive of the Seychelles Energy Commission.
 
Mr Jean-Louis has been active in the NGO sector, both locally and overseas, specialising in managing projects related to sustainable energy sources, climate change and environmental conservation, among others.
 
He was the lead consultant for the 2009-2010 review of the Seychelles Environmental Management Plan. Between 1997 and 2001 he served as the director of the Energy Affairs Bureau in the Ministry of Industries and International Business.

Mr Jean-Louis holds a degree in physics, and a postgraduate diploma in energy studies, both awarded by the University of Murdoch in Western Australia.
