Legras wins IOC trophy |10 December 2010
He received the trophy from Seychelles Olympic and Commonwealth Games Association (Socga) president Antonio Gopal during a ceremony held at its headquarters at Stad Linite, Roche Caïman, on Monday afternoon.
A proven boxing coach, Legras has used his outstanding leadership capabilities to raise promising young boxers. He instils in youngsters the ideals and principles of the Olympic movement.
Legras said he was happy to receive the trophy, which will surely push him to work harder with local youths.
“The trophy has come as a surprise,” Legras told Sports Nation.
“I’m happy I won it and I’m willing to work harder to get more young people to practise sports, especially boxing,” he added.
Set up by the IOC in 1985 with a different theme each year, the annual award is made available to each National Olympic Committee, which is then responsible for choosing the person to receive it.
