Champs Rybar, Super 8 ready for triangular tournament-Handball |14 January 2011
They will be taking part in the new triangular tournament featuring teams from Seychelles and Mauritius who have decided to boost the level of their players by giving them the opportunity to play more matches.
Rybar will meet Mauritian champs Curepipe Starlight and a Rest of Mauritius selection, while local men’s champions Super 8 will clash with Beau Bassin Rose-Hill and a Rest of Mauritius team.
Speaking to Sports Nation, Danny ‘Mathias’ Philoé, who coaches the two teams, said they are using the trip to give young players the opportunity to get used to playing international matches.
The Rybar players making the trip are Nathalie Samynadin, Marie-Claire Samynadin, Sandrine Samynadin, Williana Dubois, Marie-Ange Dick, Gracey Johnson, Maureen Auguste, Vanessa Barbé, Marie-Claire Chetty, Anne Henriette, Annette Henriette, Claire Marguerite, Prisheila Devasin, Mirenda Francourt, Leona Zacek, Queeny Hertel, Annie William and Annifa Siméon.
Danny Philoé, Alistair Amblavany, Lutherd Amblavany, Leeroy Laure, Roger Bristol, Graham Marie, Hendrick Siméon, José Nenesse and Robin Esther are the male players on the Super 8 team.
Next year, Seychelles is expected to host the Mauritian champions, who will play against the local league winners and two Rest of Seychelles teams.
