Student’s win marks Kokonet office opening |18 February 2011

Mr Cowin, a student at the Independent School, won the Dell Inspiron 1018 netbook and a year’s connection to the company’s Kokozone wireless internet hotspot service, in a prize draw run on the Kokonet website to mark the firm’s 10th year of operation.

“The start of 2011 has been incredibly significant for Kokonet,” said the ISP’s chief commercial officer Romano Laurence.

“We’re celebrating our 10th anniversary of pioneering the development of the internet in Seychelles. And we’ve moved our sales office from the Pirates Arms Arcade to Huteau Lane, where we’ve got much more space to meet our customers and provide them with the high-quality service they require.”

The move to Huteau Lane has freed up the company’s premises at the Pirates Arms Arcade, which is now home to Kokonet’s sales and marketing and administration sections.

“Our customer service team had been based in the Pirates Arms Arcade for a long time and have done a fantastic job of building up our client base. But just as internet use has grown over the last 10 years, so has the company, and it was time for a change,” said Mr Laurence.

In the Huteau Lane office, the Kokonet sales team have more space to meet clients, demonstrate the company’s products and better represent the company’s professional, Seychellois image.

“Entirely owned by Seychellois, Kokonet wants to make Seychelles an entirely internet-able country, taking the best of what the internet can offer and making it meet the needs of Seychelles,” said Mr Laurence.

Collecting his prize from Mr Laurence, Mr Cowin said that he was happy and surprised to have won the netbook and internet subscription, which will be put to good use straightaway to research his school homework.

And although the chance to win a free netbook and Kokozone internet connection is over, Kokonet is still running a limited period promotional offer to buy a Dell Inspiron 1018 netbook for only R5,799 when signing up for a year’s internet subscription.
