Football: Barclays league division one-Northern Dynamo add to St Roch’s trouble |02 April 2011

Dynamo went ahead as early as the ninth minute from Damien Tamboo’s corner which young Basil Bertin headed past St Roch’s goalie Eugene Valentin for a 1-0 lead.

The goal though shook St Roch who began to threaten and in the 17th minute, Marvin Pierre should have done better from a Malagasy Nestor Benahovy corner.

Three minutes later, Benahovy again picked out Pierre with a free-kick in the penalty box but he could not direct his shot past goalie Egbert Havelock as he sneaked in at the far post.

St Roch got their due reward in the 38th minute as Benahovy pounced on a long clearance by Valentin. His cross-field pass was met by Klaus Pragassen’s sweet left foot volley which crashed under the crossbar and past the goal-line for one of the best goals so far this season to make it 1-1.

The goal spurred St Roch and on the stroke of half-time, Benahovy wriggled his way past a couple of tackles to thread a pass to Steven Télémaque who fired past Havelock for a 2-1 lead.

St Roch came out for the second period aiming to add to their goals tally with a first league win.

However, they were in for a rude awakening as Dynamo raised their game and levelled matters two minutes later.

It started from Marcus Maria’s superb run as he darted to the bye-line before cutting the ball back in the box to Bertin who drilled it home to complete his brace for a 2-2 scoreline.

Four minutes later, Dynamo regained the advantage from Pierre’s mistake after he lost possession in midfield. St Roch’s captain Daven Belle appeared to have cut out the danger but he gave away the ball to Elvis Julius who squared it to Maria who buried his shot past Valentin for a 3-2 lead.

In the 57th minute, Dynamo should have extended their lead as Maria burst through with a mazy run to slice open the St Roch defence and release Asman Todisoa, but the Malagasy striker, who looked odds on to score, was stopped in his stride by a brilliant save by Valentin to keep his team in the match.

Todisoa though should have been awarded a penalty in the 78th minute as he went down under captain Belle’s challenge after rounding two defenders but referee Julien Saunders was not convinced.

Dynamo secured all three points to leave St Roch as the only team without a league victory.
