Seychelles celebrates International Dance Day

This was part of activities held to mark International Dance Day locally – held on April 29 annually.

Dance instructor and main organiser of the event, Allain Jules, said this year there has been a very good turn up of local dance groups.

“Dancers from the different districts as well as those from the school of dance showed people what they are capable of – showing how far the art has developed locally,” he said.

Also during the show, there were performances by people learning traditional dances at the conservatoire of performing arts and other smaller dance outfits in the districts.

The activities started at around 2pm and went on well after people had left work – gathering a small crowd of on-lookers in the process.

Meanwhile, Mr Jules said although they do not observe the other more formal aspects of Dance Day – such as reading speeches and having workshops – the organisers are looking into the possibility of doing so in the future.
