Cricket-Mahe Master Blasters begin campaign in style |15 June 2011
Dieter and Travis were the only two batsmen who scored 6 and 3 runs respectively. The contribution of 45 extras mainly in wides helped the La Digue Dashers to reach 73 for 7 in 15 overs. The Master Blasters bowlers did a pretty good job with the ball as Arka got 2 for 3, whereas Byron, Shiva, Ashay, Ricky and Rangan got a wicket each.
The Mahe Master Blasters lost openers Rangan and Ashay in the run chase for 6 and 1 runs respectively, but they never faced any difficulty as Dharmesh and Byron steered them home. Byron made 8 and Dharmesh scored 9 ensuring Mahe Master Blaster win comfortably by 8 wickets in the eighth over.
Dieter Bibi and Dedley were the only 2 bowlers claiming 1 wicket apiece.
Silhouette Seamers register comfortable victory
In the second game on the same afternoon, Silhouette Seamers won the toss and elected to bat first against the La Digue Dashers.
Seamers lost Swati and Ashwin for 18 runs before Raja and Ragul put a long partnership to bring the Seamers back on track. Raja was not out on 40 with 4 fours and a six, whereas Ragul made 31 runs with 2 fours.
Jaydip also chipped in with 12 runs and a contribution of 43 extras also helped the silhouette Seamers to reach 131 for 4 at the end of 15 overs. For the La Digue Dashers captain Travis Mills picked up 3 wickets for 32 runs.
In their run chase, La Digue batted better than in their first game with contributions provided by most of their batsmen (Jacob 4 runs, Dieter 10 runs, Christian and Dedley with 5 runs each).
However, La Digue failed to keep up with the run rate and only managed 78 for 8 in 15 overs with a contribution of 35 extras from Silhouette Seamers bowlers. As a result, Silhouette Seamers won by 53 runs. For the Seamers, Raja picked up 3 wickets, Jaydip got 2 wickets and Ajit and Ashwin got 1 wicket each.
