Badminton-Good start for Seychelles in the doubles |12 September 2011
The players of coach Gerald Bibi won all their three matches in the men’s doubles, women’s doubles and mixed doubles on 2-0 scores.
After winning a bye in the first round, Steve Malcouzane and Georgie Cupidon beat Armando Inharugue and Lucio Lampiao of Mozambique 2-0 in their second-round match of the men’s doubles. The set scores were 21-13 and 21-7. In the quarterfinal yesterday, Cupidon and Malcouzane were to play Deeneshing Balboolall and Yoni Louison of Mauritius.
In the mixed doubles, Cupidon paired with Alisen Camille against Yoni Louison and Priscilla Vinayagam Pillay of Mauritius. Cupidon and Camille won the match 2-0 (21-8, 21-15).
Camille was in action once again on Saturday in the women’s doubles where she teamed up with Cynthia Course against the Ghanaian duo of Stella Amassah and Linda Osei Hammond. Course and Camille won the match 2-0 (21-7, 21-10).
Course and Camille were expected in action yesterday against Bridgett Bagi Shamim and Margaret Nakabirwa of Uganda in the quarterfinal.
Meanwhile, in the women’s singles, Danielle Jupiter lost 0-2 (8-21, 4-21) to South African Stacey Doubell in the quarterfinal.
