Tennis: Vijay league-Two wins in a row for Club 2000 |27 March 2012

In their second match, they thrashed Rotary Club 5-0, while in their last match on Friday, they cruised past Eden 4-1.

Against Eden, Club 2000 began their rout with victories in the singles where Selwyn Lespoir defeated Zoltan Sugar 2-1 (6-3, 4-6, 10-5) in the men’s singles, while Sarah René was victorious over Rossela Viciconte. The final score was 2-0 (6-0, 6-0).
Eden’s only victory was in the second men’s singles match where Selwyn Knowles abandoned his match against Baptiste Mulher. As for the doubles matches, Club 2000 won them by walkover.

In their match against Rotary Club, Club 2000 was clearly the dominant side with straight-set victories in all their matches.
In the men’s singles matches, Selwyn Knowles beat Charlie Ng 2-0 (6-0, 6-0), while Selwyn Lespoir was victorious over Vijay Patel by the same score. The set scores were 6-2 and 6-2.

In the women’s singles, Sarah René beat Lineda Samson 2-0 (6-2, 6-0) to make 3-0 for Club 2000.
Knowles and René then joined forces to battle in the mixed-doubles match Philip Brioche and Linda Samson. Club 2000 won the match 2-0 (6-1, 6-2). Their other victory was by walk-over in the men’s doubles.

In the other matches played, Academy were victorious over Eden by three matches to two, while Spitfire registered a 4-1 victory over Eden.

Baptiste Mulher gave Eden the lead with 2-0 (6-1, 6-3) victory over Titou Roquain in the men’s singles, before Christophe Levivier leveled things with a 2-1 super tie-break victory over Jean Yves Roquain in the other match. The set scores were 5-7, 6-4 and 10-2. Clyvie Delpech then put Academy ahead with 2-0 (6-0, 6-0) victory over Rosella Viciconte. Jean Yves Roquain and Baptiste Mulher brought the series level, with a 2-0 victory over Titou Roquain and Christophe Levivier. The set scores were 6-2 and 7-6.

The Clyvie Delpeche and Selwyn Hoareau duo then gave Academy the win with their 2-0 (6-2, 6-1) victory over Zoltan Sugar and Rosella Viciconte in the mixed-doubles.

Spitfire started the series with a 2-0 (6-0, 6-0) victory by Sylvester Delpech over Zoltan Sugar, before Baptiste Mulher made it one match apiece following his 2-0 victory over Ronny Ah Shung. The set scores were 6-2, 6-0.

Thara Hoareau then gave Spitfire back the lead with victory over Rosella Viciconte in the women’s singles. The final score was 2-0 (6-2, 6-0). Antoine Hip-Waye and Ronny Ah-Shung then extended the lead for Spitfire with victory in the men’s doubles. They beat beat Zoltan Sugar and Baptiste Mulher 2-0 (6-2, 6-2).

Spitfire’s other victory was in the mixed doubles where Sylvester Delpeche and Thara Hoareau beat Jean Yves Roquain and Rosella Viciconte 2-0. The set scores were 6-1, 6-3.
The Vijay league competition will resume on Friday April 13.
