Seychellois beauties Anisa Rose and Anita François have represented the country with flying colours in the Miss Afrique Francophone UK (United Kingdom) held last Saturday at the Camden Centre in the heart of central London.

Anisa Rose won the first runner-up title and Anita François was voted ‘Miss Popularity’.

Estelle Met from Benin was crowned Miss Afrique Francophone UK and will be an ambassador for all the represented countries, will promote awareness to the plight of the less privileged, and will contribute to the development of her community and most of all be a great role model for young Africans in the UK.

Asta Camera from Mali was the second runner-up.

Anisa Rose and Anita François took to the stage with hopefuls from 21 other Afrique Francophone countries in preparation for the Miss Afrique Francophone UK 2013 competition earlier this year, with the backing of organisers Mouna Sidipi, John Privat and Samentha Ally of Seychelles.

The final on November 9 brought together 17 stunning girls at the most prestigious and glamorous African pageant in the UK.

The gala night showcased musical performances from various Afrique Francophone countries. Seychellois artist Jahrimba performed on the night and was awarded a trophy from Afrika Biz for his excellent performance.

He has also been invited for next year’s pageant.
The Seychelles Tourism Board rewarded the two Seychellois contestants as well as winner Estelle Met from Benin. The awards were given on behalf of STB by Samentha Ally.

Anita François, 23, is currently studying a Masters in Archaeology at UCL. A lover of nature, she wants to travel around the world, especially in Africa, and work to preserve African history more particularly that of Seychelles.

She describes herself as very modest, intelligent, strong, caring, and fun to be around. Her plan is to open a children shelter in Seychelles and in Haiti (her father’s homeland).

She hopes that in future this can grow to help not only Africans but people in need throughout the rest of the world.

“Africans may have a long and difficult past but we have a brighter future. A place as important to my history as the Seychelles needs great advocation. In participating in Miss Afrique Francophone UK, I am working towards being one of those amazing people striving to promote a greater global awareness of, what is in my eyes, the most beautiful place on earth,” said Anita prior to taking to the stage.

Anisa Rose is 26 years old and she eats, sleeps and dreams modeling.
Being in front of the camera is her passion. She describes herself as an extremely driven and very determined person.

She is also a part-time DJ, so music is a big part of her life and her motto is ‘never give up on your dreams’.

Anisa has been modeling for a number of years here in the UK and is a signed model with Cliche Model Management and also Coral Models in Seychelles. She said she is an extremely ambitious young lady and entrepreneur and wants to inspire young people of Seychelles to follow their dreams in the modeling industry.

“No matter your skin colour, ethnic or weight, do not hold back, use everything you have including your personality as an opportunity,” she said when entering the contest.
