Secondary schools to use new timetable software |12 February 2014
Deputy head teachers from secondary schools across the country are following a three-day training on how to use a software to generate their timetables.
The workshop is being organised by the Ministry of Education and is being led by consultant from MIST Services in United Kingdom Peter Knights-Branch.
During the sessions, being held at the Ministry of Education’s hall at Mont Fleuri, those taking part will learn the principles of timetabling and how to use the Timetabler software and options software.
“The aim of the workshop is to show the deputy head teachers how to construct a school timetable using a computer rather than what they have used in the past. This is the modern way of doing things,” he said.
This new initiative can be used at primary level but for now it is only being done for the secondary schools.
“By the end of the three days, I expect them to have been able to use these principles and put their existing timetables into the software. The second one is to have grasped the skills so that they can next year use the software directly to build their timetable,” he added.
Mr Knights-Branch said if the deputy heads run into difficulties they can always contact MIST Services.
