Karting: Camille’s glorious first victory |09 April 2014

Amadave Camille came of age in last Saturday’s second round of the SF5 (Juniors) class of the 2014 karting championship by destroying the field in all the races.

Camille, 14, came alive in the first race of the day by beating the field by over half a lap, and he did the same in the final.

With six drivers taking part, the only persons who tried to react to the pace were Arnold Mein and Anyl Gonthier, but by the third lap they could have just given up as Camille controlled the race winning in a time of 6 minutes 26.30 seconds , nearly 9 seconds ahead of Arnold, and 23 seconds ahead of Anyl.

Dharmil Sakhida did well in the early part of the race but spun and lost a lot of time as he tried to recover and still finished fourth, while Mary Mousbe drove cautiously to be placed fifth, just ahead of Joshua Samsoodin in sixth.

After the two rounds, Mein leads the table with 51 points followed by Camille with 47 and Sakhida with 39.

Meanwhile, a few drivers were missing for the SF6 class race, but Sebastian Mathurin made sure this did not prevent him from making it two wins out of two.

He was made to work hard by Navin Venkateswaralu who took second place while Shane Dodin did well to finish third.

Mathurin leads the table with a perfect score of 56, with Venkateswaralu second on 46 and Dodin third on 38.
