STB launches Seychelles que j’aime photo contest on Facebook |11 April 2014
The E-Marketing section of the Seychelles Tourism Board (STB) has launched a photo competition on Facebook under the theme Seychelles que j’aime.
A selection of four photos would be selected by the STB panel and posted on its Facebook page every Thursday at 2pm for a period of six weeks.
Photos with the highest vote will enter the final draw on May 2, 2014 to win one free ticket to any Air Seychelles destination.
The Facebook photography competition was launched to give a significant boost to STB’s social media presence online, notably on Facebook. Through this the general public are given the chance to like and share photos they prefer, thus greatly increasing engagement and driving traffic to the page.
STB is at present revamping its website and online image library, so this competition will also aim at giving the general public the chance to contribute to the Image library and capture snapshots of Seychelles, which they believe make our country a unique destination.
The theme Seychelles que j’aime was chosen as it gives those taking part the chance to capture the beauty of Seychelles across a broad spectrum of images. They can capture their snapshot through panoramic views, sunsets, wildlife shots, Creole culture and cuisine, fishing shots.
STB’s E-Marketing manager Vahid Jacob said the aim is to get people to capture Seychelles through their own eyes, thus giving STB the chance to capture Seychelles through the eyes of the people, both local and foreign.
“We are revamping our image library and it should be ready by the end of next month thus we thought it would be a great way to give the general public a chance to contribute to the library before it is launched,” he said.
The weather conditions are just right to launch such a competition, he added.
All photos should be submitted in colour and must be high resolution. Those taking part are allowed to submit a maximum of two photos.
There is no specific area of interest, it is basically a medium to showcase the diversity and amazing scenery of Seychelles.
The competition will last for seven weeks and the winner, being the photo with the most likes on STB’s Facebook page will win one free ticket to any Air Seychelles’destination.
Second and third prizes are being kept as a surprise and will only be announced at the end of the competition on May 2, 2014.
Those who were not successful but whose photos received a large amount of likes on Facebook will have the chance of having their photo showcased in STB’s image library with credit being given to the photographer. Their photos may be used in STB’s advertising and promotional campaigns both locally and internationally.
The deadline for submission of entries is on May 1, at 10am, and winners will be announced on May 2, 2014 at 3pm via a posting on STB’s Facebook page.
