Fitness - If you put in the effort, life will reward you |29 April 2014
Living a healthy lifestyle is not something that comes easily and without efforts, and as the headline suggests, hard work and discipline are needed in order to be rewarded with a healthy life.
It is with this education in mind that the National Sports Council (NSC), along with the Seychelles Tourism Board (STB), hosted a one-day life coaching workshop at the International Conference Centre (ICCS) yesterday to give athletes, coaches and sports ambassadors more knowledge on how to train and educate athletes about how to better improve their fitness and general health.
The course was led by of a group of South African professionals – Jacques Fagan, who is a fitness athlete and also an ambassador of the Ultimate Sports Nutrition (USN) brand, a leading supplement brand in South Africa; life consultant Kirschlee Naidoo; personal trainer and fitness athlete Elaine Naidoo; and fitness athlete and amateur mixed martial artist Charlie Taylor.
Training methods, nutrition and supplements are the topics that were discussed during the workshop with the USN promoting some of their brand as well. They include energy drinks, fitness guides based on different needs, and leaflets.
Speaking to Sports Nation Mr Fagan said: “Nutrition, food and supplementation are of utmost importance whether you are a professional athlete or not and I believe even in your daily life.”
He also added that for them educating people on the small changes they can make in their daily lives is also important as they are the things that can make a big difference.
People often associate sports supplements mostly with body building and other physical sports but Mr Fagan said this should not be the case.
“I think that was a big stigma in the last few years for USN itself as a brand, but we try to make it for a broad variety of people, whether a professional athlete of just a general mother or father or anybody,” he added.
“We have a variety of products that cater for everybody's needs and that’s the beauty of USN products.”
Mr Fagan also stated that though nothing is set in stone yet, they will be looking to try to market their brand here in Seychelles in the future.
Meanwhile, those who attended the workshop will have surely gained a lot of information that will hopefully take our athletes to even higher levels.
