Profiles of contestants

Weeks before the Miss Seychelles … Another World crowning ceremony set for Saturday May 31, Seychelles Nation brings you the profiles of the 12 contestants.
This is being done in two parts – the first in today’s issue and the second will come out in the Saturday May 17 issue.

In today’s issue we publish the profiles of contestants number one to six – Fiorella Cedras (1), Raphaela Dugasse (2), Stephanie Duval (3), Camilla Estico (4), Marvel Godley (5) and Christa Joubert (6).

The six other contestants are: Anabelle Pointe (7), Melissa Pool (8), Lisa Rose (9), Michaella Rosette (10), Elmina Savy (11) and Ronda Sidonie (12).
The profiles have been prepared by the Seychelles Tourism Board and all photos taken by Marsha Dine.

The lady chosen as Miss Seychelles … Another World 2014 will be crowned by outgoing Miss Seychelles … Anotehr World Agnes Gerry. The winner will also represent Seychelles at the 64th Miss World pageant in London.

Fiorella Cedras (Contestant Number 1)

Fiorella Cedras from Anse Consolation, Praslin is someone who strongly believes in peace and justice.

The 23-year-old wants to be a role model for the young people in our society and her ambition is to become a professional photographer.

Currently working at the Seychelles Credit Union as a bank clerk/cashier, she loves photography and poetry writing.

Fiorella is a great fan of the Creole cuisine especially our famous dessert ladob, seafood dishes and curry.

The young Praslinois is an active domino player and in her leisure time she enjoys doing photography and cooking.

One of her dreams was to meet the late Nelson Mandela, the former South African President who has been a great inspiration to many generations.

Fiorella believes Mr Mandela was a man with a great heart and she has been touched by the way he has promoted peace worldwide.

Raphaela Dugasse (Contestant Number 2)

Raphaela Dugasse from Praslin has a love for children.

The 20-year-old Human Resources assistant’s favourite colours are blue and white and her ambition is to land an important job in the future.

Raphaela also hopes to be a successful and hardworking woman while holding down a successful marriage and three kids!

The young Praslinois’ talents are singing and writing poetry, and she says her favourite food is a good lasagne.

She feels that she is enjoying making new friends, learning new things and sharing moments during her experience as a contestant in the pageant.

If crowned Miss Seychelles … Another World 2014, Raphaela wants to be an inspiration to the youth.

Stephanie Duval (Contestant Number 3)

Leading one of the world’s biggest charity organisations is the life ambition of 24-year-old Stephanie Duval.

Born under the star sign of Pisces, Stephanie lives at Hermitage, Mont Fleuri.

She holds an advanced diploma in telecommunications from the Seychelles Institute of Technology.

Stephanie enjoys swimming and spending time with loved ones. She also loves the unique dishes of our Creole cuisine.

She is currently working at the National Sports Council. Stephanie was awarded a diploma in managing an Olympic sports organisation after completing an advanced sports management course from the Olympic Solidarity.

In five years’ time, Stephanie is hoping to have completed her degree and set up her charity organisation.

If crowned Miss Seychelles … Another World 2014, Stephanie aims to encourage people to take up sports.

Camilla Estico (Contestant Number 4)

Camilla Estico is a young woman who is deeply concerned with the issues of healthy living and how to curb obesity in young children.

The 23-year-old Beau Vallon resident also hopes to pursue her performing arts career and complete her Business Studies degree in the near future.

So far, her proudest moment was being accepted at the Alvin Ailey dance theatre – one of the top-ranking performing arts schools in the United States of America.

Well-travelled, places she has visited so far include Cuba, Singapore, Malaysia, South Africa, Paris, England, Rome, Mauritius and Ethiopia.

Having lived in the United States for the last nine years, Camilla would love to meet US President Barrack Obama.

If crowned Miss Seychelles … Another World 2014, Camilla says she will promote healthy lifestyle, which she believes is key to a beautiful life.

Marvel Godley (Contestant Number 5)

Marvel Godley, originally from Praslin but now living at Mont Fleuri, is a strong advocate for environmental causes.

Although her ambition is to become a dive master as well as taking care of her big family in the future, the 22-year-old also sees herself managing her parents’ hotel on her native Praslin in five years’ time.

Currently working as an assistant accountant for the Ramani group, she enjoys dabbling in arts and crafts as well as going to the beach.

The young Praslinois also enjoys fishing in her spare time.

One of her dreams was to meet humanitarians like Mother Teresa or Mahatma Ghandi to discuss their perspectives of life.
If crowned Miss Seychelles … Another World 2014, Marvel promises to promote environmental awareness.

Christa Joubert (Contestant Number 6)

Miss Seychelles … Another World 2014 is not the only pageant that Christa Joubert has taken part in; she was among the girls who contested the Miss Kempinski title recently, a contest organised by the resort Christa works for as a front desk agent.

The 20-year-old, originally from Baie Ste Anne Praslin, attended the Seychelles Tourism Academy and is fluent in all three of our national languages – English, French and Creole.

In her spare time, Christa enjoys watching movies, going to the beach, and socialising. Singing is the art she prefers.

The ambitious Praslinois hopes to set up her own studio as a make-up artist.

On the journey leading to the crowning night, Christa wishes to meet new people and discover new things.

If ever she has the chance to meet someone famous, American actor Tyler Perry would be at the top of her list.

If crowned Miss Seychelles … Another World 2014 she will help local orphanages as well as encourage young girls to take part in next year’s pageant.
