Andy Laurence’s death still being investigated |17 May 2014
The investigation into the tragic death of Andy Laurence on April 6 this year at Côte d’Or on Praslin is still ongoing and is receiving priority and no stone will be left unturned until a final conclusion is reached.
The police said this to the media yesterday at their headquarters’ conference room.
Director of the national crime services division of the Seychelles police, Bruce Bursik, said in a press conference yesterday that they are following all the leads and thus far have not eliminated anyone from the investigation.
“The police have allocated additional resources to the investigation and have widened the scope of inquiries. The Commissioner of Police, Ernest Quatre, is exploring the possibility of bringing in a foreign police expert to advise and help the investigation team in solving the case,” said Mr Bursik.
He added that samples taken during the course of the investigation have been sent to Mauritius for analysis and the results are not in yet, but as soon as they receive these results they will take the investigation a step further.
“Evidence found at the scene and on Mr Laurence strongly suggests he was driven over by a motor vehicle. The evidence and wounds are not consistent with an assault. Having said this, however, the police will not exclude any contributing factor and will investigate this case thoroughly and objectively,” said Mr Bursik.
The wound’s characteristics were confirmed by a pathologist doctor and not the police.
The police are appealing to members of the public who have any information about the case to come forward. They can call 4288000 and for those who want to remain anonymous they can call 133.
Also present at the press conference were Chief Superintendent Reginald Elizabeth and Security Advisor in the Ministry for Home Affairs and Transport Raymond St Ange.
