Seychelles lose opening games in badminton
The Seychelles badminton team have lost their two opening games of the team event at the 2014 African Youth Games being held in Gaborone, Botswana.
Comprising Chlorie Cadeau, Javis Renaud, Aaron Vidot and Mary Moncherry they met their first opponents – Egypt – on Thursday.
The team suffered defeat in all their matches – singles male and female, doubles male, female and mixed – to lose 5-0 against the Egyptians.
They then met the team from South Africa yesterday morning and suffered another 5-0 defeat.
The team were expected to take on Ghana yesterday afternoon, but at the time of going to press, Sports Nation had not received the results.
The Seychelles delegation arrived in Gaborone on Tuesday where they will compete in various sporting events until May 31.
Twenty five athletes in total, accompanied by 10 officials, are representing Seychelles at the Games which started on Thursday.
The inaugural Africa Youth Games were staged in Rabat, Morocco in 2010, where Tunisia topped the medals table. This year is only the second time the competition is organised.
