Fraudulent businesses advertising US visas on the rise |31 May 2014

Online claims by companies offering US visa “expediting” services are false, the United States of America (USA) embassy in Mauritius has said.
In a communiqué released yesterday, the embassy writes: “Several companies online claim to offer US visa “expediting” services, often promising to help with the issuance of US visas for a hefty fee.

“The United States embassy in Port Louis wishes to advise all visa applicants in Seychelles that these claims are false.  US visas fees can only be paid to the consular cashier at the US embassy in Port Louis at the time of the visa interview, and are only accepted in cash (US dollars or Mauritian rupees). No other fees are required, and any other payment visa applicants make to any entity outside of this official process has no bearing on their visa applications or interviews. All information on the US visa process can be found on the embassy website at Mauritius.usembassy.gov.”
Applicants in Seychelles who have any questions or clarification are being asked to contact the US consular team by e-mail at PTLConsular@state.gov.
