President Michel meets beauty pageant winners |11 July 2014

Miss Seychelles … Another World 2014 Camilla Estico and her two princesses – Lisa Rose and Marvel Godley – met President James Michel yesterday at State House.

Ms Estico was crowned Miss Seychelles … Another World 2014 on May 31, 2014 and she will be representing Seychelles at the 64th Miss World Beauty Pageant, which will be held in London in December 2014.

“I wish you every success in the Miss World pageant, I am sure you will make Seychelles proud! Also when you participate in tourism trade fairs around the world, take the opportunity to show the world the many reasons why people should visit our beautiful islands,” said President Michel.

All three were accompanied by the Minister for Tourism and Culture Alain St Ange and the Seychelles Tourism Board chief executive Sherin Naiken.

“It is a great honour to meet the President. He inspires me in many ways. The President told us that we are now ambassadors of Seychelles for a year and we have to carry ourselves and of course represent Seychelles with our hearts for a year. And to me that was one good piece of advice that the President gave us in today’s meeting,” Ms Estico said to the press.

During the meeting the three beauty pageant winners discussed their future career plans with the President, as well as their dreams and aspirations for the projects they plan to implement as part of their Miss Seychelles pledge.

“We discussed our projects and President Michel shared with us words of encouragement for this year,” Ms Estico added.
Ms Estico also said that in the coming months she would focus her energy making her community project a success.

“I am working with a team to put together a plan for an anti-obesity project, especially with school children and I will make it public soon. My end goal is to change our eating culture, the way we eat, so we can become a healthier nation,” said Ms Estico.

First princess Lisa Rose and second princess Marvel Godley told the media that they feel very privileged to have met the president and since both girls’ projects target the environment they have discussed with the president how they will help in safeguarding the environment at every chance given to them.

Lisa Rose is working on project for the prevention of coastal erosion on Praslin, while Marvel Godley is also working on an environmental project on Mahé.
