Waso calls for respect for girls and an end to abuse against innocent ones |06 September 2014
It is with profound sadness and in solidarity with those who have been abused and to their families that Waso (Women in Action and Solidarity Organisation) calls on all those concerned to put an end to violence and abuse of our girls and daughters.
Waso is calling on all men to take their responsibilities as men, fathers, partners, brothers and husbands. We want you to know that real men do not abuse children or women but seek to love them and treat them with the same kind of respect that you claim from them.
As a father how would you feel seeing an irresponsible man abusing your daughter, your concubine, your sister, or your girlfriend or even your mother or grandmother? It will hurt you doesn’t it? Then, remember you have a role and a responsibility to protect others just like you want others to respect your loved ones.
Then stop and think how it feels to hurt others who are powerless and defenseless and promise yourselves never to do it to others. Please stop it, stop it now!!
Remember, the cry of an innocent child suffering in silence at the hands of an abuser or abusers often leaves a wound that never heals and a scar that lasts a lifetime.
As a women organisation, we cannot sit and relax when innocent women and girls are at risk or are in danger. Therefore we have this message for all women especially mothers.
We plead with you mothers to love and protect all your children especially your daughters. Treat them with respect and let no one hurt them or take advantage of their innocent childhood.
Remember if you neglect them and they get hurt, you will live with regret the rest of your life, especially if you are well aware of what is happening inside your house. Do not live with guilt or with a guilty conscience. This is not a mother’s role!!
You have a responsibility to do all you can to give your children a happy life, it’s not about providing them with material things but instead it’s about giving them your love and reassuring them that you will always be there to guide them in a way, pleasing to them and God.
Therefore, if you need help call on organisations such as the social services, the National Council for Children and Waso. We are there for you; we are ready to serve you. Call Waso at anytime on our helpline: 2530707.
We are there for you.
