. Magnan sets male junior record
The annual Regatta road races were held last weekend where a good number of athletes turned up at the start line to compete.
The main 10km race for female and male runners was won by Meryle Rabat and Moses Mbugua.
Rabat won the women’s race in a time of 49 minutes 22.5 seconds (49:22.5) to finish ahead of Diane Belle who managed to complete the race in 53:41.4. Third place went to Sheryl Lepathy who finished in 54:05.0.
For the men, Mbugua completed the 10km race in 36:08.9 to take first position, with Keddy Moustache coming in second with a time of 36:57.3. In third position was Jimmy Anacoura who took 38:00.3 to complete the race.
The occasion saw a new junior 5km record, when Yannick Magnan erased the previous record of 20:04.9 with a new fastest time of 17:34.4.

Junior female 5km: 1. Vanessa Cherry (27:50.0), 2. Elsia Sinon (40:52.0)
Junior male 5km: 1. Yannick Magnan (17:34.4 – new record), 2. Samuel Moustache (21:25.7), 3. Juliano Freminot (22:18.2)
Master female 5km: 1. Maggy Harray (29:58.6), 2. Florise Ernesta (32:56.2), 3. Shirley Damoo (35:57.8)
Master male 5km: 1. Simon Labiche (18:01.8), 2. Herbert Adrienne (20:11.8), 3. Josue Victor (22:38.6)
