Bodybuilding - SBBF promises a higher standard Mr Seychelles contest |06 November 2014

The Seychelles Bodybuilding Federation (SBBF) has said the public will witness a higher standard of bodybuilding when the athletes take the stage in tomorrow’s Mr Seychelles contest.

“Mr Seychelles is the biggest national bodybuilding competition of the year and it has always been my aim to raise the standard of local competitions,” said SBBF chairman Regis Delorie. “This is not only in terms of the performances, but also in terms of setting, organisation as well as prizes,” he added.

Mr Delorie stated that the competition this year will be different from others as the parties involved have all been doing their part in making the event a big success.

This will be the third national competition organised by the SBBF, the first being the Seychelles bodybuilding championship which was won by Ziad Meckdachi and more recently the Mr Regatta competition won by Rodney Henriette.

“My intention is not to hold many competitions, but to improve the level of the existing ones as well as improve the level of the bodybuilders,” stated Mr Delorie. “We are however considering organising a novice competition, whereby young bodybuilders will get the chance to compete on their own platform.”

With regards to tomorrow night’s Mr Seychelles competition, Mr Delorie informed Sports Nation that aside from the main contest, they will also be hosting a men’s physique competition, which will feature three athletes who have less weight but more defined bodies.

“I’ve organised such a contest before and the feedback was great, so this is why I have incorporated it in this year’s Mr Seychelles,” he added.

The Mr Seychelles contest will be held tomorrow at the International Conference Centre Seychelles (ICCS) as from 9pm and 14 bodybuilders will be competing for the top prize.

Ziad Al Adou Meckdachi has confirmed he will be there to defend his title and will compete alongside flex posers like Rodney Henriette, Joelen Valentin, Joe Gabriel and others. Tickets cost R100.

Mekdachi is probably the top contender for the Mr Seychelles title after winning the under-90kg category gold medal and finishing as overall runner-up at the International Federation of Bodybuilding (IFBB) Mr Olympia Amateur Africa in Johannesburg, South Africa last month.
