MCB to get new managing director |13 November 2014

Bernard Jackson has been named the new managing director of the Mauritius Commercial Bank (MCB), effective January 1, 2015.
He will replace Jocelyn Ah-Yu who will retire at the end of this year.

The announcement was made yesterday by Pierre-Guy Noël, the MCB Group chief executive and chairman of MCB Seychelles, to the staff of MCB Seychelles.

Mr Ah-Yu previously worked for the Banque Nationale de Paris Intercontinentale (a subsidiary of Groupe BNP Paribas) in Mauritius for 30 years, where he held various key positions before becoming the assistant general manager.  

He joined MCB Group in June 2002 with responsibility for the Group’s operations in Seychelles. He oversaw the transition of the Banque Française Commerciale Ocean Indien branch in Seychelles into a full-fledged subsidiary of MCB Group and has been instrumental in the growth and modernisation of MCB Seychelles over the last twelve years.  

The newly appointed managing director, Mr Jackson, who has been acting as the head of Finance & Administration of MCB Seychelles since February 2008, began his career in the Strategy & Research Department of MCB Group in 1999.

He has an extensive experience of the Mauritian and Seychelles banking environments.

Regis Bistoquet, who joined the Bank in 1983 and has been acting as its Head of Operations since 2008, has been appointed as deputy managing director, also effective January 1, 2015.  

He has an extensive experience of banking operations having taken part actively in the modernisation of the local banking sector namely at the level of cards and payments systems and recently within the bank by overseeing the migration of the bank to a modern core banking platform.

The Bank’s executive management team is completed by Dolly Tirant and Lindy Monthy. Mrs Tirant joined the Bank in 2001 after working for the Ministry of Finance as director for Financial Services.  She currently heads the Bank’s Corporate division.

Ms Monthy joined MCB Seychelles in 2000 in the Corporate Finance Division after eight years with the Development Bank of Seychelles as loans manager. She is currently in charge of the Bank’s Retail network.

“MCB Seychelles remains focused on its future development while remaining attentive to the ever increasing needs of its customers, thus continuing to contribute to the socio-economic development of the country,” says a communique from the Bank.

“The Bank’s workforce has been growing steadily over the years to reach its current level of 170 employees while continued investment in systems and technology will further improve the product offering,” adds the communique.
