Grand Anse Praslin wins best school title in aerobics competition |25 November 2014

The aerobics and choreography competition organised by the Sports For All Unit of the National Sports Council (NSC) was held last Sunday, where Grand Anse Praslin primary finished as the top school among five others.

Baie Ste Anne Praslin, Port Glaud, La Retraite and Bel Eau primary schools also took part in the competition held at the National Theatre, Mont Fleuri, where children demonstrated various ways of doing exercise with the use of hoops, skipping ropes and music.

Grand Anse Praslin emerged victorious as it claimed an overall 2,128 points to finish ahead of neighbour Baie Ste Anne, who amassed 2,060 points for its efforts. Port Glaud finished in third position with a total of 1,787 points.

Fitness instructor Dorothy Isidore stated her disappointment at the number of schools which took part, as only five of the many primary schools in the country turned up for the competition.

It was a very fun experience for the children present though and they were rewarded with medals and their schools were awarded cups for their efforts. 

There were individual performances for both boys and girls, mix of three competitors and mix of five, as well as the choreography competition featuring a group of more than 10 male and female contestants.
