Jouel sponsors jungle gym for Independent School’s children |18 July 2015
Kids in the kindergarten of the Independent School have received a new play structure sponsored by Jouel.
The jungle gym is especially for the children to enjoy during break time, exposing them to physical challenges to encourage the development of their social skills as they learn, play and enjoy together.
“It will help the children a lot because at this age they need a lot of activities. Stretching room for instance because they have to develop their large muscle, they have to coordinate their movement as well. It will help them to be calmer in the classroom, help their concentration as well,” said Heliana Quillindo, teacher in charge of the kindergarten section.
The structure was handed over to the director of the Independent School, Patrick Berlouis, during a ceremony attended by members of the board of governors, friends of the Independent School, the Parents Teachers Association, school staff and the kindergarten pupils.
“We are indeed very grateful to Jouel for this generous donation, which will help the kindergarten kids develop their physical abilities,” said Murline Lebon, secretary of Friends of Independent School (FIS), also the organiser of the event.
She added that the “Independent School does not only put emphasis on learning inside the classroom, but also encourages child development and interaction through outdoor and physical activities”.
“We were approached by the FIS for the cause towards the kiddies of the kindergarten and as it is a social play structure which allows for a lot of development for the kids at this young age we thought that it would be a very good cause to contribute to this social development for the kiddies,” said Elaine Ernesta, the Jouel PR and communications manager.
Ms Ernesta added that “this is not the first project that we sponsor in the community but we chose to sponsor this one for Independent School because we were approached last year and we decided to mark it up as one of our CSR activities for this year”.
The general manager of Jouel, Agnes Naidoo, was present as the jungle gym was handed over and walked around the play structure with Mr Berlouis as the children enjoyed themselves on it.
