9th Indian Ocean Island Games – Reunion |31 July 2015
Judokas aim to bring home elusive gold medal

Local judokas have won gold medals in other competitions in the region and even in Africa, but they still haven’t been successful at the Indian Ocean Island Games.
Seychelles is being represented by 11 judokas in Reunion this time and their aim is to write their names in the record books as the first judoka gold medal winner at these games.
Among them, the biggest hopes rest on the shoulders of Dominic Dugasse (+100kg) and Brigitte Rose (+70kg), who have both been making waves in the sport in recent times and will be looking to add another medal to their haul.
Along with Dugasse and Rose, the athletes who will represent Seychelles at the 9th IOIG are Jean-Michel Vidot (60kg), Francis Labrosse (+60kg), Dominic Cesar (+66kg), Leslie Philoe (+73kg), Nantenaina Finesse (+81kg), Leonel Savy (+90kg), Paddy King (+57kg), Jessy Malbrook (+63kg) and Marie-Annette Vidot (+78kg).
Accompanying the judokas are Seychelles Judo Federation chairman Mervin Joubert, coaches Calix Cesar and Christian Philoe, as well as Terry Mothée and Stephen Joubert who will act as judges and referees.
