9th Indian Ocean Island Games – Reunion - Hopes high for local boxers |03 August 2015

When we talk about boxing, Seychelles has always been at the forefront in this sport at the Indian Ocean Island games and the aim this year is to retain the Indian Ocean boxing king title reclaimed in 2011.
Nine boxers have made the trip to Reunion where some will be aiming to win their first gold medals at these games, while others like Andrique Allisop, Jovet Jean and Keddy Agnes will have for mission defending their Indian Ocean titles.
Other than Allisop (60kg), Jean (75kg) and Agnes (+91kg), the Seychelles boxing team also include Dave Cesar (52kg), Alvin Botsoie (56kg), Lorenzo Bonne (64kg), Alva Botsoie (69kg), Nigel Benoit (81kg) and Keven Kilindo (91kg).
At the eighth Indian Ocean Island Games on home soil in 2011, Seychellois boxers managed to clinch four gold medals and five bronze and they will be hoping to better this performance when they take their skills to the ring starting on Sunday.
The boxers are accompanied by highly respected coach Gerry Legras, as well as team manager Edmond Folette and Seychelles Boxing Federation chairman Herve Anthony.
