Partners team up for first cardiology camp at Seychelles Hospital |07 August 2015

The first cardiology camp to be organised in Seychelles is being conducted starting today and for three consecutive days at the Seychelles Hospital.

The Health Care Agency of the Ministry of Health has received the support of Lions Club of Seychelles and the Rotary Club of Victoria to conduct the August 7, 8 and 9 cardiology camp.

A team of visiting cardiologists, echo cardiographer and cardiothoracic surgeon are teaming up with our locally employed cardiologist and physicians to provide in-depth cardiac assessment and much needed follow-up for patients suffering from cardiac ailments who are in the upper tier category of seriousness/complications.

The initiative is a good example of private partnership with government for national projects for the wellbeing of the Seychellois people which President James Michel always stresses on.

It has been possible under provision of the recently signed memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Lions Club of Seychelles earlier this year, reinforced with a newly formed partnership of the Rotary Club of Victoria which together  has contributed immensely to bring this cardiology camp to fruition.

The cardiology camp will also see the cardiology team moving to Praslin for patients on the outer islands for a day, the rest of the time concentrating on Mahé, and will include such test as the necessary blood serology, ECG, echocardiography, color doppler, chest X-ray among others, depending on case requirements.

The patients will also have to provide required information to put together their case history such as smoking, physical exercise, diet as well as undergo measurement of their weight, height and their blood pressure.
