Seychelles had five fighters in last night’s boxing finals of the ninth Indian Ocean Island Games but only Keddy Agnes and Keven Kilindo could win their fights to capture the gold medals.
Competing at the Games for the first time, Kilindo powered to a 3-0 victory against Reunionnais Florent Kaouchi in the 91kg weight category and Agnes defended his gold medal won in front of his homes fans in 2011 by defeating Emmanuel Payet also of Reunion.
The other three Seychellois boxers settled for the silver medals after losing their fights on points.
Andrique Allisop lost his 60kg fight to Reunionnais Eric Dagard on a 0-3 score, Jovet Jean fell 0-3 to Mauritian Merven Clair in the 75kg category and Alva Botsoie was beaten 0-3 by Reunionnais Felix Movan in then 69kg final.
The bronze medallists are Alvin Botsoie (56kg), Lorenzo Bonne (64kg) and Nigel Benoit (81kg).
