Sailing - Radial team racing gold for Seychelles |10 August 2015

After retaining his Laser Standard gold medal, Allan Julie joined forces with Meggy Gertrude, Roy Govinden and Rodney Govinden in the Radial mixed team racing to claim a second medal of the gold hue at the just-ended ninth Indian Ocean Island Games in Reunion.

Seychelles also won five silver medals in sailing.

Julie won the Laser Standard gold medal with 8 points after winning six of the nine races at the Base nautique des Mascareignes in Le Port.

Compatriot Rodney Govinden settled for the silver medal with 13 points and two first places.

The other silver medals are Alison Hoareau (women’s Laser 4.7), Roy Govinden (men’s Laser Radial), Meggy Gertrude (women’s Laser Radial) and the 4.7 mixed team of Brad Andre, Martin Servina, David Madeleine and Alison Hoareau.

Reunion won the other five sailing gold medals.
