Golf - Ellenberger wins Air Seychelles tournament |12 November 2015

Alex Ellenberger is the winner of the one-day golf tournament organised by Air Seychelles, the national airline of the Republic of Seychelles, and leading aircraft manufacturer, Airbus.

People present at the event played at the Seychelles golf club, Anse Aux Pins, included high level management of Air Seychelles, representatives of Airbus and the government of Seychelles, key stakeholders from the travel trade and the private sector, and top frequent fliers.

Roy Kinnear, chief executive of Air Seychelles, said; “Bringing together our key partners over a round of golf was a great opportunity for us to network and strengthen our business relationships.”

He added: “At the same time, this tournament was a way for Air Seychelles to demonstrate its appreciation for the contribution that our partners have made to our success.”

The top three players on the 68-par course were awarded with business class tickets to destinations on the Air Seychelles network at a special ceremony on the same day.

With Ellenberger winning the tournament, Jerry Jean-Baptiste had to settle for second place, while Richard d’Offay was third. Young and very promising golfer Jaden Deltel was awarded the prize of best junior golfer for his performance.

“We are delighted to have been able to jointly host this tournament with Airbus, whose aircraft are the backbone of our international fleet, made up of two A320 and one A330 aircraft,” Mr Kinnear continued.

“These aircraft are the right fit for our network and offer an excellent combination of low operating costs and a great level of passenger comfort, and we look forward to continue working with Airbus in the future.”

Hadi Akoum, vice-president sales Africa at Airbus, added:  “Air Seychelles’ A320s and A330 are the gateway to one of the most beautiful places in the world, and they are doing it efficiently and in the most eco-friendly way.”

Air Seychelles operates three Airbus aircraft, all three of which were transferred to the Seychelles civil aircraft register in 2015, opening up growth opportunities in new and existing markets.
