Au Cap school children start academic year with new library books |23 January 2016

A variety of new children’s books have been handed over to the Au Cap primary school’s library to encourage students to read and further develop their reading skills.
The donation was made late last year by the Seychelles Civil Aviation Authority (SCAA) as part of the organisation’s corporate social responsibility initiatives. This came as a result of the school requesting help in purchasing books for the school’s library in order to help the children with their reading.

The reading materials donated include both English and French books such as the Ladybird series and popular Disney stories.
The authority’s chief executive Gilbert Faure made the presentation to the head teacher, Fatima Agathine, during a special assembly at the school.

This was done in the presence of some members of the SCAA’s executive team, the director of schools from the Ministry of Education, Cyril Pillay, as well as members of staff and children.

In his address, Mr Faure urged the children and staff to make the most of the books as they are vital learning tools which help in increasing a child’s knowledge and academic success.

He added that the SCAA is always committed towards educational projects and has over the years contributed greatly towards schools in the communities.

Mrs Agathine also took the opportunity to thank SCAA for its generosity and for having responded positively towards the request of the school.
