Volleyball: Men division one - Premium Spikers dethrone Beau Vallon |27 September 2016
Premium Spikers have finally put an end to Beau Vallon’s recent domination of national volleyball by winning the 2016 men’s first division league despite losing to their rivals last weekend.
Spikers were up against defending champions Beau Vallon at the Palais des Sports on Saturday, having already secured a first league title since 2012 the week before and looking to assert their dominance by claiming victory over their rivals.
A win would have been the perfect way for coach François Ally’s men to celebrate their title triumph, but it was not to be as they lost 2-3 (25-19, 21-25, 27-25, 17-25, 12-15), which was still enough to secure them the title, despite losing their unbeaten status.
Spikers have finished the season with 28 points after 10 games, while Beau Vallon have one game remaining and have lost only once all season-long.
