Second Miss Creole des îles Internationale on October 21 |08 October 2016
The Regatta is behind us and a new Miss Regatta has already been crowned. And during the month of October we welcome to the stage the ‘Festival Kreol’ to celebrate the Seychelles Creole culture, and we will also see the crowning a new Creole queen.
Last year, the winner for the first Miss Creole des îles internationale was Debbie Horsman and this year nine contestants will battle to become the next Creole queen.
Telly’s Modelling Agency’s spokesperson Terry Carolla has said that the ‘Miss Creole des îles internationale’ will work with the secretariat to implement an educational programme in their respective countries to bring to the fore the full spectrum of Creole tradition, such as music, language and become an ambassador for culture and tourism among the younger generation.
This year’s pageant, which coincides with the Festival Kreol, will take place on Friday October 21 at the International Conference Centre of Seychelles (ICCS). Tickets cost R300 and will be available at the National Arts Council (Nac), Ray’s Music Room and Telly’s Modelling Agency in Room 27 at Camion Hall.
Speaking to the press about the event, Mr Carolla said the pageant is about promoting the Creole culture.
“The pageant is set to create a platform for young people to promote the Creole culture, dance, food and folklore as well as tourism-culture activities in Creole-speaking countries,” he said.
Seychelles has ventured into the Miss Creole pageant in the past when it was held in 1994, 1996 and 2010. This pageant has left interesting chapters in the organisation of this event. With the Miss Creole des îles Internationale, Telly’s Agency looks to bring this second pageant to new heights and give it an international status.
So throughout the journey to crown a new Miss Creole des îles Internationale, the nine contestants will undergo a really thorough preparation to prepare them for the biggest show of their life.
Beauty queens have much more to do than just look beautiful. A beauty pageant like Miss Creole des îles Internationale isn’t about walking the ramp in the skimpiest of clothes, and sporting a million-dollar smile. It is about cracking the tough round of questions and answers with conviction. It is all about balancing beauty with brains, which can be an extremely nerve-wracking experience if you are not quite prepared for a competition this tough.
Best of luck to all the contestants!
