Bodybuilding: Eric Favre competition Excitement mounts as adrenaline starts flowing |22 November 2016
Excitement has started to mount ahead of tonight’s Eric Favre bodybuilding and Miss bikini contest at the International Conference Centre of Seychelles, starting at 7pm.
Accompanied by strongman and bodybuilder Morgan Aste, IFBB (International Federation of Bodybuilding) Miss Bikini professional Nathalie Mur, Eric Favre has said he expects tonight’s flex show to be of a very good level.
“It’s going to be a highly contested affair,” he told Sports NATION.
“The bodybuilders and competitors in the bikini contest are all in good shape and ready to pose for the spectators,” he added.
Altogether, 57 female and male flex posers from host country Seychelles, Reunion, Mauritius, Rodrigues and Madagascar will flex their muscles on stage tonight and Seychelles is being represented by Ahmad Moncherry, Kevin Domingue, Amir Afif, Terry Moncherry (juniors); Ziad Al Adou Meckdachi, Andy Anthony, Mervyn Dugasse, Ian Rose (seniors), Alain Rosalie, Andrew Athanase, Andrew Nicoire, Sylvester Delpeche, Wallace Dorasamy (men’s physique), Pierre Servina (master +50 years ), Joe Gabriel (master +40 years), Joelen Valentin (master +50 years); Ariana Memee, Jade Simeon, Rosette Pillay and Melissa Pinchon (Miss Bikini).
The categories are as follows : Junior (Under 21 years); Senior -65kg, -70kg, -75kg, -80kg, -85kg, -90kg, -95kg and +95kg; Masters: +40 years, +50 years and +60 years; Bikini: -1.63 m and +1.63 m; Men’s Physique: 1.78 m, - 1.78 m and + 1.78 m.
A total cash prize of €5,000 is on offer and the overall winner will have his plane ticket and lodging paid so as to take part in one of the three Eric Favre Sports Games in France, Guadeloupe and Canada in 2017.
Speaking to Sports NATION, Mr Seychelles Ziad Al Adou Mekdachi said he is in great shape and wants to win on home soil to make all Seychellois proud.
“I have done all I had to do and with God’s grace I hope to get a win tonight. I want to give all Seychellois a win on home soil and I am calling on all fans to rally behind us, give us the support and make us proud. We will make you all proud too,” said Mekdachi.
Earlier this year, Mekdachi clinched the 95kg weight category bronze medal for Seychelles at the inaugural Arnold Classic Africa Amateur Bodybuilding competition at the Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg, South Africa.
Mr Seychelles Junior Ahmad Moncherry is also confident of getting a win tonight.
“I have high hopes for tonight. And I am confident in my ability because I have trained hard,” said the 21-year-old.
Both Alain Rosalie, winner of the Men’s physique, and master category winner at the Mr Seychelles, Joe Gabriel, could not be reached for comments.
It will be also interesting to see if Rosette Pillay who won the much-awaited Miss Bikini contest at the Mr Seychelles contest in October can achieve the same feat tonight by outsmarting the other ladies from the region.
Tickets are still on sale at R300 and Seychelles Bodybuilding Federation chairman Regis Delorie is calling on all bodybuilding fans to come down in numbers to support the local flex posers.
