PUC responds to President Faure’s call for installation of solar water heating system at Anse Royale Home for the Elderly |29 December 2016
Residents of the Anse Royale Home for the Elderly are now enjoying the benefits of having their own solar water heating system.
This system comprising two (2) units of 150 litres each, was provided and installed by the Public Utilities Corporation (PUC) with the assistance of Bestway Limited earlier this month.
Installation of the units included connection to the electrical power system, to be used as a back-up during days of limited sunshine.
This small project was conceived after President Danny Faure made a surprise visit to the Anse Royale Home for the Elderly in mid-November and identified the urgent need for solar water heating to provide hot water to all the residents. This was one task among others which he saw as necessary to improve the welfare of the residents.
PUC believes that the social well-being of the elderly is a worthy cause that aligns with its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) objectives. The corporation intends to work more closely with the community and schools in the coming year in its efforts to promote energy efficiency, water conservation, and generally contribute to the social and economic development of the country.
