Football: Transfer News - Waye-Hive signs for St Louis |18 January 2017

St Michel Football Club right winger Gervais Waye-Hive will as from this coming season play for the St Louis Football Club.

The move was released on Monday by Waye-Hive himself on his facebook page and was later confirmed yesterday by the St Michel manager Andrew Jean-Louis.

Waye-Hive, 28, started his football career at the age of twelve with St Louis youth club and later joined Red Star at the age of sixteen and played for the team until 2006 when he left for England. Upon returning to Seychelles in 2010 he joined St Michel up till now, which is where he departs.

The 2014 footballer of the year told Sports NATION: “I joined St Louis at a very young age and I had pledged to myself that I would end my football career with St Louis. As I have achieved much with St Michel, it is fitting at this age, for me to move to St Louis before I get older, because I want to help my old club in achieving something in the future.”

He said that with the look of the St Louis team right now, the future looks encouraging.

“There is a possibility that free agent Karl Hall who is still in England might join me and with the other calibre of players in the team, fans will enjoy good competitive football,” said Waye-Hive.

Commenting on his father’s association with the team, Waye-Hive said: “I did not quit St Michel because of my father. He was always a St Louis fan, even though he supported St Michel as he wanted to show his support to me as a St Michel player. But with me now joining St Louis, it had him come out even closer to St Louis to support the team and to show his support towards me as always.”
