Anse Boileau Youth Awards Ceremony Sportsmen and women rewarded |31 January 2017

The office of the member of the National Assembly for Anse Boileau organised a youth awards ceremony recognising youths from the district who have performed well in various sports disciplines and in other fields. The event was held last Saturday in their community centre in the presence of organiser Patrick Pillay, who is the district’s elected MNA and Valcy Naiken, district administrator for Anse Boileau among other guests.

The youths won cash prizes ranging from R2,000 to R5,000, trophies, laptops and tablets from telecommunication company Cable & Wireless.

Below is the list of awardees and their respective disciplines:

Domino (ladies): Bena Zelia from La Salette; Domino (male): Paul Bonnelame  from La Salette and Steven Labonte (Anse Boileau A); Netball: Antoinette Emile; Hockey: Ashley Mussard; Football: Damien Rath (Junior) and Miguel Kilindo (senior); Cycling (Junior): Stephen Belle; Cycling (senior): Ahmad Arrisol; Taekwondo: Martin Cedras; Basket ball - Male (from AB Boyz: Liroy Toussaint and from Drifters, Arnaud Arrisol; Basketball – Ladies: Sherifah Agathine from Hotshots; Volleyball: (female player residing at Anse Boileau but playing elsewhere: Shireen Felicie; Boxing: (lives at Anse Boileau but not practicing there) Andrique Allisop; Best Overall Awards: Ahmad Arrisol (cycling); Sherifah Agathine (basketball) and Martin Cedras (Taekwondo); Best Overall awards for those who have supported and been behind the youths all the time: George Sabadin, Charles Sauzier and Alister Arnephie. Special award for athlete with disability: Dino and Achievement Award: Karine Dick.

The next Anse Boileau Youth Awards ceremony will be held next year according to the organiser.
